Yamato Kyoto, Yamato Kyosho, and Yamato Josho will perform a selection of Yamatogaku and Kabuki music pieces at Japan Village’s 2026 Setsubun event. This is a rare opportunity to experience Japanese traditional kabuki theater music in New York City.

Japan Village in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, will hold an exciting event to celebrate the Setsubun festival. Yamato Kyosho and Yamato Kyoto will perform songs such as “Mamemaki” before the actual bean-throwing ritual is held.

Yamato Kyoto (left) and Yamato Kyosho (right) perform at Japan Village in Brookyln for the Setsubun Festival. They played the Yamatogaku Song “Midoshi no Haru - Asakusa Kinryuzan” to welcome the new year of the snake.

Yamato Kyoto joined Bon-dan NYC at the Harrison Japanese festival. We will perform various traditional Japanese folk dances to live shamisen music.

This ninth annual Tanabata Festival is presented by the Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA) with the Japanese American Association and support from the Japanese Consulate. This traditional Japanese summer festival is based on a legend of star-crossed lovers. Come make a wish and join us for bon odori dancing from 7:30pm.
